Two nations. One final.

This montage traces the dramatic path through EURO 2024, highlighting the goals, skills, and moments that defined the tournament. Custom VFX and sound design elevate broadcast footage into a cinematic experience.

The Challenge

Working with sports footage for the first time meant learning to sync broadcast angles with replays, adjust slow-motion footage to match real-time pacing, and integrate VFX that enhanced drama without overwhelming the authenticity of the moment.

Approach

I aimed to build tension through rhythmic editing, inspired by the music (X-Ray Dog - Voices of War) rapid cuts in the semi-finals building to slow-motion hero moments (Merino’s last minute header vs Spain, Bellingham's bicycle kick vs Slovakia, Yamal's stunner vs France, Watkins' winner vs Netherlands).

What I Learned

Sports editing requires a completely different rhythm than commercial or narrative work. Every cut needs to serve the pacing, and VFX must enhance rather than distract. This project taught me to balance spectacle with authenticity.
